    Description

    This is a
1927 Gibson Model 1 Soprano Ukulele RESTORED and Extremely Rare
Item has been Repaired and Restored in 1945 and 2021
The Gibson Uke-1 came out in late 1926 in this variation but by 1928 the fretboard was extended to 17 frets reaching the
sound hole so this one was likely manufactured in 1927 with the pointed tip at the end of the fretboard and "The Gibson"
silk screened logo.  Nearly 100 years of seasoning on the solid Honduran mahogany and neck makes for a very tuneful
    and harmonically rich tone.
An internal label  dated 5/24/43 indicates that the instrument had need of some rebuilding and, when more recently found,
a continuous lengthwise open crack around the full length of the sides and a related failure of the neck block rendered
the instrument unplayable.  The neck was correctly reset and the neck block re-glued at the same time the side crack was
repaired and reinforced with a thin mahogany veneer on one side and internally on the other.  A clean longitudinal crack on
the face of the instrument on the upper bout near the sound hole has also been repaired and reinforced and the repair is
almost impossible to see even upon close inspection.  It's finish has been refreshed with period correct, hand-rubbed
shellac so it's again as solid and playable as when it was fresh out of the factory.  Action is now excellent with no buzzes
    on the neck.
It's otherwise all original with it's black friction tuners, ebony nut, rope sound hole rosette and mahogany bridge.  Frets
have plenty of life yet and the instrument was strung with new D'Addario nylon strings.  It comes in it's original Gibson
hardshell case which is in Fair to Good condition with minor restoration to the exterior black lacquer finish and re-gluing
some separation at the top side of the case.
All in all a wonderful, tuneful, very playable piece of Gibson musical history.  Very Good condition after restoration and
    repair.
This has been packed away in a box for most of it's life, clean and smoke-free.
