Description
Here's some short background information on the guitar; From the Gretsh web site:
In 1949, Gretsch began gluing labels to the inside of guitars. These labels had “Fred Gretsch Mfg. Co” on them and had lines for the “Model” and “Serial No.”
Pls see the
photo of the label
to see the word "Fred" on the far left and then at the far right is the word Brooklyn is partially visible. Luckily the bottom line with the serial number is intact.
From the Gretsch web site:
These labels replaced the method of penciling the serial number on the inside back of the guitar. This form of labeling continued till 1957.
From 1945 to the early ‘50s, both methods of serial numbering have been seen.
The Model 6010 is a large-bodied, X-braced, solid spruce top dreadnaught guitar & it's been written that this model was s
tyled after the Martin D28. To me it has similar weight to my Guild! Many say that g
reat weight produces great tone. I took a look and the wood grain of the
sides & back seems to be solid wood. Double bound with a wonderful center back strip. New tuners. It's worth restoring.
The neck is mahogany and appears to be a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. The headstock has the word Gretsch inlaid
Included is it's vintage case; which sells for -5
From Seattle with the case its gonna be heavy; using Fedex Ground
