Description
Up for sale is a very rare, all-solid vintage Spanish handmade classical guitar with brand new hard case (not pictured). There are not too much information about the Parramon guitars. The following is little brief info excerpted from Zavaleta's Guitars about the company founder:"Ramón Parramón Castany (Barcelona, b. 1880-1956) and Jacinto Pinto (d. 1956)
Ramón Parramón Castany was born in Montesquiu, Barcelona in 1880. He opened his workshop in Barcelona in 1908. In 1920, Jacinto Pinto joined Ramón's workshop. Jacinto was a luthier who had studied with Laberte and Magnié in Mirecourt, France and had spent several year with the Etablissements Couesnon in Paris. Despite the label R. Parramón, after 1921 all the firm's instruments were in fact made by Jacinto Pinto. In addition to violins and other bowed instruments, they made guitars as well as reproductions of early instruments. Ramón died in 1955 and Jacinto died in 1956."
This guitar has some play marks and a weather crack on the treble side mahogany wood. The crack has been glued by a local luthier and the bridge has been shaved down a little to expose more saddle height out of the slot. Other than that, the guitar is in very good condition as the photos speak, and everything is original except the bone saddle and a bone shim underneath to raise the action height.
The guitar has a very typical Spanish sound and tone. Its volume is not as loud as the contemporary high end concert guitar although this is a concert model. The similar new Parramon concert models sell for over 00 at their website.
