1977 Applause AA-24 Aluminum Neck USA

Here is a very rare guitar that is in incredible shape. It is an aluminum neck Applause by Ovation from the late 1970s. According to my research this guitar was made between January and September of 1977. According to Ovation I think the color is called "Lusty Red." Starting sometime in the late 1970s Ovation decided to build copies of their own guitars as a way of beating out other manufacturers. These guitars featured a one piece aluminum neck which included the fretboard, truss rod, and headstock. A molded piece of plastic was fitted to the back and finished to simulate a solid wooden neck. They were only made for a few years in Moosup, Connecticut before moving production to Korea so these early guitars are a real treat to play. Many of them have worn necks but this one is in remarkable shape aside from having a very attractive paint scheme. I have never seen one like it and I've seen a few of these guitars. This is a real collector's piece.
