2 JAPANESE WOOD KOKESHI DOLLS MAN & WOMAN w/ SHOGI CHESS BODIES - BISHOP & KING!

This auction is for 2 Japanese wood kokeshi dolls from the late 1960's, and this piece measures 4.5" high by 3" wide by 2" deep.  What is interesting about this piece is that the kokeshi doll "bodies" are made from 2 different Shogi pieces.  Shogi is Japanese chess, and the Japanese kanji on the female piece translates to "bishop", while the larger Shogi piece on the male says "king".  They are also both wearing small pieces of brocade fabric tied with silk cords in a bow, and they are standing on a Geisha's "geta" or sandal!  Really unique kokeshi doll piece.  Japanese characters on front of geta.

This kokeshi doll piece is in good vintage condition - with some dust/dirt and natural but uneven aging/shading/darkening of the wood - and would still make a great addition to your growing collection.  White areas are camera glare.
Please remember that this is a vintage doll that may have minor imperfections, such as dust/dirt/dings/scratches/scuffs/age spots.
