Trader-BOB's MUSIC offers a 1920's (or earlier) Parlor Acoustic guitar. Very possibly a Stella, made by Oscar Schmidt. Harmony did not acquire Stella guitars in 1939. This is earlier than 1939. Has a semi "V" neck. Spruce, one piece top. Quarter Sawn White Oak back and sides, solid, not laminate. Best description fit from Vintage Guitars. Made from 1900-1930. MOP inlay "Star" on the Martin style, square top peghead. All brass, three on a plate tuners. All work, button spindles straight, black plastic buttons. They need cleaning and lube. The neck has been repaired at the wrist. It looks like it glued back together well. Someone put a countersunk machine screw, thru it on the front, square nut on the back, see picture number 6. The 18 fret, non reinforced neck, meets the body at the 12th fret. Pretty standard on a Parlor guitar. The 7th fret wire is missing. There is wear on the fret board, and fret wires, not too much considering this is around 100 years old. The fret wires overhang the edge of the board slightly, from wood shrinkage. Measuring neck relief / bow at the 6th fret, it is .024", see the last picture. The nut is wood. There is a hairline crack up the front, bass side, about 13" long. The top is bound with herringbone, and white plastic. The plastic has shrunk, both sides, in the waist area. The back is plastic bound. The ladder brace across the top, at the base of the fret board has come loos at the bass side end. The top is beginning to "Nose dive" at the base of the fret board, pix #11. Herringbone inlay around the sound hole. The floating bridge looks original, has pieces of wood missing, that separate the strings. Between strings 1 & 2, and strings 5 & 6. Original tailpiece. Herringbone separation between the book matched back halves. There are no cracks in the oak, on the back or sides. No seam separations. The neck / body joint is tight. The finish looks all original. Measures, 36-7/8" overall,24" scale length, 1-13/16" nutr width, 18-1/16" body length, 12-13/16" lower bout, 7-1/4" waist, 9" upper bout, and 3-5/8" body thickness. These guitars of this vintage, and almost unmolested are getting scarce. Harder to find, especially in this good of condition, for a 100 year old piece. This is a PROJECT !! NOT UP TO IT?? PLEASE DO NOT BID / BUY. THANK YOU.
