Description
This is a vintage Japanese mid Meiji Era (c. 1890's) Samurai warrior archer doll done in a soft sculpture with silk kimonos over a firm base. He has a wooden head and gofun (crushed oyster shell) finished face. He holds samurai bow and has a long sword at his side.. The full set of armor is very realistically detailed.Having been in storage for over 100 years, with the exception of minor signs of past use, he remains in

He measures about 8 1/2" tall by 5" wide not including his custom base (21.5 x 12.5 cm). The base measures 6 1/2" by 4 1/2" wide by 2" tall (16 x 9 x 5 cm). He is easily removed from the base by use of two pins (see picture 11).
