You are bidding on aAntique Portuguese 12-String Fado/Lisbon Guitar by Antonio Duarte 19th Century
About/Condition:
This Guitar was made by António Duarte Mendes, or at least in his shop sometime between 1880 and the Great War. I am by no means a guitar or antique expert so I looked online at several of these and am just going to paste what I think some of the wood is made from. I believe the soundboard is made of spruce. Bridge of maple with inlaid metal saddle in the top. Sound hole is about 2.5" diameter. Purfling around the sound hole consists of thin strips of ebony and maple. The back and sides are of rosewood. The heel, neck and head appear to be of mahogany. The head terminates with a sickle type scroll. There is a fanning metal screw turn tuning mechanism on the head. The nut is ivory. The radiused fingerboard if rosewood with metal frets, 17 in total. Length about 29". Width at widest point is 11" About 4" thick.
History is that it was bought from an antique store as is. The rear of the guitar has three lines in the rosewood where splitting has occurred however it is all still in tact. (IE its not flapping around or anything like that) There also is a small part of the rear that has separated from side a little. See photos. It does make sounds when you strum and that is all that I know about playing. Half of the label on the inside is missing. From other guitars I have figured it must say, "Antonio Duarte / CONSTRUCTOR DE GUITARRAS E DE TODOS OS INSTRUMENTOS / DE CORDA" then continues with more advertisement.
Sold as-is. Should definitely be checked by a luthier. Needs restoration on the rear, but is still extremely well preserved for its age. I have done no attempts to restore it at all which is good, because people try dumb things and don't know what they are doing.
Will obviously pack well for shipping.

Just the Guitar as shown. Nothing else.
