    Description

Please see my feedback. I have sold fossil amber for over 10 years on eBay and sell only authentic fossil amber, not fake or plastic.
Dominican amber is known for the clarity and preservation as well as variety of its inclusions.  Such things as insects, arachnids, and botanicals can be found.
This is a rarely seen, amber stalactite from the mines in the Dominican Republic that contains a  fossil
stingless bee (genus Proplebeia, species dominicana,
    now extinct
) near one edge of the piece.
There appears to be a second stingless bee in this amber fossil but it is oxidized (please see fifth picture).
The bee is trapped inside resin flows that resulted in tree resin dripping down over time similar to what forms cave stalactites.
These particular bees are no longer seen in the Dominican Republic or Haiti and this particular species is confirmed to be extinct.

    This piece originated from
    the Dominican Republic
    .
The piece itself weighs 0.5 grams and has approximate
dimensions of 1.1 cm length, 0.9 cm width, and 0.45 cm height.
    NOTE:
2.54 cm is approximately 1 inch. This piece could be used as a specimen or in a piece of jewelry.
I also offer other Dominican amber specimens for sale
    and rare
    blue
    Indonesian amber
    .
Thank you for your consideration.  This amber will ship worldwide.
I will combine items to save on shipping for up to a 7 day period
and usually ship within 1 business day.
Stingless bees are the most common bee found in Dominican amber.  They would collect resin from the amber tree (
    Hymenaea protera
, now extinct) in order to build their nests.  Hence, they would often get caught.  Rarely, stingless bees can be found with resin balls on their hind legs. I very rarely come across bees with resin.
Do please consider the very rare Burmese (Burmite) amber along with my large Colombian copal specimens with a variety of inclusions I am currently listing at low starting bids.
I will combine items for up to a 7 day period to save on shipping costs.
International Buyers: Please note that I ship using First Class Mail International.
A SPECIAL NOTE CONCERNING INTERNATIONAL BUYERS
    :
Please understand that import duties, taxes and charges are NOT included in the selling price or shipping charges.  These charges are the buyer's responsibility.
Please check your country's customs office to determine what these additional charges may be prior to bidding/buying.
I cannot guarantee delivery of your item in a set amount of time.  Different country's customs offices take longer to process items than others do.
Lastly, I do not mark merchandise values below their true value or mark items as "gifts."  U.S. and International government regulations prohibit such behavior.  Honesty is the best option.
Please note that the saltwater test to identify real from fake amber is not reliable. The saltwater test claims that real amber will float in saltwater while fake amber will sink.
However, many amber sources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical (plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are more dense than saltwater and so sink. I do not sell fake amber. My feedback should help demonstrate this.
