BEAUTIFUL JAPANESE WOOD KOKESHI DOLL "SPIRIT OF THE WHEAT" BY KISHI SADAO !

Description

This auction is for a beautiful Japanese wood creative kokeshi doll.  This piece was designed by beloved kokeshi doll maker - Kishi Sadao - who has won numerous top awards in Japan for his creations, including one for this kokeshi known as " Seishin No Komugi", which roughly translates to "Spirit Of The Wheat".  She measures 9.5" high.
The artist is known for celebrating nature in his kokeshi doll creations, which includes this doll.  He won the prestigious Prime Minister's Award for this doll in 1968.  The wheat stalks have been carved into the doll for added depth and texture.  The artist signed the back of the doll in black ink, and placed his stamp/chop in the bottom.  Please see below for flaws.
This kokeshi doll piece is in good vintage condition - hard to find many flaws other than a small scuff on the back of her head - and she would make a great addition to your growing collection.  White areas are camera glare.
Please remember that this is a vintage kokeshi that may have minor imperfections, such as dust/dirt/dings/scratches/scuffs/age spots.
