At The Farm, we take actual pictures of each instrument and make sure they are fully set-up and ready to play before we ship them. Each instrument goes through a multi-point inspection, followed by a set-up process by our in-house tech staff. We then photograph each instrument with high-quality equipment in our on-site photography studio. We know that details like wood grain and color finishes can vary, so we want you to be able to see, to the best of our ability, exactly what you will be receiving.
This process takes over an hour for each instrument - from inspection to pictures. We care about the instrument we put into your hands! Rest assured your ukulele was not just plucked off of a shelf and drop-shipped to you from a warehouse without care.
Sustainable, solid-topped Breedlove ECO Collection Lu’au S Series Myrtlewood ukuleles feature a resonant core tonewood layer of clear-cut free, individually harvested African Mahogany in place of typical tonerobbing softwoods for back and sides.
Made from sustainably-sourced exotic and native tonewoods. No clear-cut trees are used in these instruments. Breedlove uses salvaged and individually harvested timber and has deep relationships with responsible suppliers around the globe. As Breedlove moves towards sustainability across all lines, owner Tom Bedell has visited 15 countries to discover exactly where the wood comes from, how it is selected and harvested, and how this affects the wildlife, the community, the forest and the planet.
With EcoTonewood, Breedlove makes laminate technology sustainable, introducing a resonant core tonewood layer of clear-cut free, individually harvested African Mahogany in place of the typical tone-robbing softwoods used in standard acoustic guitar manufacture. Coupled with Breedlove’s deep research into revolutionary body shapes; building to target tonewood weight adds to the optimized, natural sound of each guitar in the ECO Collection. And, Breedlove creates these better sounding laminate instruments while being kind to the earth while maintaining an accessible, entry-level price-point.
Packed with the same quality that Breedlove acoustic guitars are crafted with, this Lu’au S Tenor Ukulele features a solid Myrtlewood top with African Mahogany/Myrtlewood back and sides, a Mahogany neck on a 17" scale length and Ovangkol fretboard with 20 frets and centered dot inlays.
Sharing a Pacific Ocean coastline with Hawaiian Koa, native Oregon Myrtlewood has a similar bright ping, but borrows some of Mahogany’s depth and warmth for a unique, powerful ukulele presence.
Tenor ukes, the favorite of hailed modern aces like Jake Shimabukuro, have a throaty sonority that appeals to guitar players and a longer 17” scale that facilitates translating hot licks from six strings to four.
The natural finish on this full-shouldered tenor Lu’au, equipped with geared tuners and Aquila Super Nylgut strings, will appeal to traditionalists, too.
