There're two types of Kokeshi dolls. One is traditional-styled, and the other is creative-styled.
Traditional Kokeshi dolls are made only in the Tohoku area and have set rules about their shape and design.
Creative Kokeshi dolls have NO RULES. You can see Kokeshi craftsmen's unique imagination in them. At the same time, their design well reflects the times when they were made.
We'll sometimes meet dolls with a crazy design like monsters, fruit-headed, or taking a bath. They are TOO FREE-SPIRITED. But that's what's FUN about collecting creative Kokeshi dolls!
