SIGNED JAPANESE KOKESHI DOLL SERIOUS YOUNG SAMURAI w/ KATANA SWORD BY USABURO !

Description

This wonderful Japanese solid wood creative kokeshi doll measures 5.75" high and 7.5" in circumference around the middle.   He was made by arguably the most famous creative kokeshi doll maker in Japan - Okamoto Usaburo.  He has won many of the highest awards in Japan for his kokeshi doll creations, including one for this doll.  His name is "Waka Samurai" which translates to "Young Samurai".
His kimono top has been stained an attractive medium green color, which still allows the beautiful wood grain to show through.  He's also wearing a "chonmage" or top knot (on his head) worn by Samurai, and he's carrying his "katana" sword under one arm.  His stern, unsmiling facial features are awesome
with wide set eyes, framed by his traditional Samurai hair style.  The artist's name is carved into the doll, and the famous "Woody Craft" Usaburo sticker is on the bottom.  Please see below for flaws.
This kokeshi doll is in good vintage condition - hard to find many flaws - and he would make a great addition to your growing collection.  White areas are camera glare.
Please remember that this is a vintage doll that may have minor imperfections, such as dust/dirt/dings/scratches/scuffs/age spots.
