Fellow guitarists, I am thinning the herd, here I have an interesting one for you, an old Regal acoustic guitar made in Chicago, Illinois. According to my Internet research, Regal made guitars in Chicago from 1908 to 1954. The oval blue logo with the crown likely dates this guitar to the late 1940's There are 12 frets clear of the body and 19 frets total. The body is 3 3/4 inches deep, 18 inches long, upper bout 9 1/4 inches, lower bout 13 inches. White neck dots, white trim around sound hole and white trim around body all appear to be paint. I don't know if the bridge is original. Tuners are old but I don't know if they are original. The sunburst finish still looks very nice. The tuners work well and the guitar sounds pretty good! Internet "experts" say a lot of these guitars need neck resets, that does not appear to be the case here. There is some scratching, but not bad for a 70 year old guitar. Two issues; there is something rattling in the guitar that you can hear if you "shake" the guitar, I cannot see what it is. And as best visible in the ninth picture, there is some separation between the guitar front and back and the sides. The most significant separation is at the bottom of the guitar. This is a relatively simple job for glue and clamps, but I will leave that up to you. This is a guitar that has survived the years well, which is not easy to find! If this is what you like, my buy it now price is very reasonable, go for it.The disclaimers: shipping only to continental USA addresses, no exceptions, do not ask for an exception. FedEx shipping and handling fee. I will "eat" the cost if it is more, refund excess to you if it is less than that. You can also pick up the guitar in person, I am in St. Louis, Missouri. I play guitar (not too well) as a hobby. I am not an expert, have not worked in a guitar store, not a luthier, do not own a guitar store. Ask questions and I will answer them to the best of (my limited) ability. No refunds unless I have seriously wrongly described the guitar and its condition, I do not believe I have done that. Thanks for your understanding of my disclaimer and for looking at the guitar, have a great day!
