    Description

    This Geisha is from my doll collection I had as a child dating back to the late 1940's into the late 50's.  This doll was given to me by my best friend whose family was a military family and stationed in Japan.  She brought her back when they came back to the US.  I believe she gave this doll to me as a birthday present around 1953.  As can be seen in the photos her costume is faded from being displayed on a shelf in my room for a few years.  The doll was packed away with others in 1964 and I just now unpacked them.  Her hands and feet are of a silky material, same material as her face which is painted on.  The clothes are not removable.  She stands on a 6 1/2" x 4 1/2" piece of black lacquered wood.  Because of the age some of the material in the hat is wearing, see first photo to show the hole. This is the largest of the 5, the other are very small.  The gold trim on the dome hat are strips of glued paper, still intact.
