Vintage collectable Dixie brand Banjo Ukulele (Banjolele)
in really nice condition, take a look, as these are VERY rare to find in this shape and in perfect working order, especially when you compare the ones
listed on here in the past year. It seems like every one of them have a major defect or missing part like a tuner.
the only one that sold on here in last year that wasn't a bit wonky in some way (missing a tuning peg for instance)  went for 00.
we consider that price a fluke. but you SHOULD consider that when bidding as the resale value of these in nice shape looks to just be going up currently and in the future. As, looking through all these listings from last year...these instruments can go for around  0 and still not even be in working order.
considering age, very few imperfections, there are no chips to the metal anywhere we can see.
the bridge, the tuners, all nuts are present  and everything is original (except probably the strings) and in great shape
plays well, strings are ok and do not need to be immediately replaced. all 4 tuners stay put. in fine working order
I do not believe the multi-colored strings are original, as they sound and look too fresh, but I'm not sure.
the calfskin head has no holes or perforations of any kind and has only the one small discoloration to it that you can see in pics
only the slightest chrome pitting anywhere, as most of these you see have a lot of that
check many pics
made after WWI with metal left over from the war so I've heard.
Also, From what I've read, the "Patent Pending" on the back of the headstock dates this in the early-1950's, as the patent was secured by 1955, but it could be dated earlier than that as well
A really fine example of this always wonderful looking instrument.
