I used to love kokeshi dolls, so my husband fell in love with this Japanese painting style design and bought one for me,
but I remember muttering to myself, "Why is it so expensive?
I bought it at "Tanrokuen" in Shiogama City, Miyagi Prefecture, which was the sole distributor.
Since my husband bought it, it has been stored in a closet in a box.
The box is not as clean as it could be due to age, but the unit is still in very good condition.
The store where I bought the dolls was, unfortunately, severely damaged by the tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake, and I am glad that the people in the store are safe, but what happened to the Yohachi dolls...
I think it will be hard to find a beautiful one in the future.
Since there is an ardent fan of this product, I would like to sell it to someone who will take good care of it.

He was born in Niigata Prefecture in 1907.
Before the war, he studied Japanese painting and dyeing arts (yuzen dyeing) in Tokyo.
After the war, he finished his military service and went to Kaware-cho, Akita Prefecture, where he made kokeshi dolls (Yohachi dolls) using yuzen techniques, which gained a high reputation, but he passed away in 1994.
