Trader-BOB's MUSIC offers a Vintage, First Institute of Allied Arts acoustic birch bodied parlor guitar. As far as I can tell on the web it was made by Regal. 1920's - 1930's. Outstanding condition. All the trim, and hardware was gold colored when new. The tuners, and plates are painted gold, (unmarked, possibly Waverly's), the tailpiece is brass, painted gold. The pickguard is sparkly gold plastic. The 1/4" fret markers were missing, I looked for something gold flaky to make new ones from, but settled on pearl. The painted binding front and back, as well as the soundhole trim, are all painted gold. The tuner bushings, and string spindles are polished brass, to keep in the gold trend on this guitar. I had to use phosphor bronze strings. The compensated floating bridge is original. There were three cracks in the body. Two on the front from the end of the base block, extending up, and ending at the lowest cross ladder brace, and one up the back, bass side from the end block up to the first ladder brace. All approx 3" long. I glued the cracks, and backed them up inside with 1/16" thick 3 ply model airplane birch plywood strips 1/2" wide. Awesome strength, and very minor mass added to the body. I polished off the generations of grime from the original finish, and she cleaned up very well. Measures, 37-1/2" overall, 1-3/4" nut width, 24" scale length, 13" lower bout, 8" waist, 9-3/4" upper bout, 3-3/4" body thickness. The neck shows .0115" bow / relief on my dial indicator, with .100" string action height, at the 12th fret. There are signs of wear on the fretboard, and fret wires. I have had several different parlor sized guitars over the last 10 years, but this on beats them all with it's sound, and projection. PLAYER!! The case is not original, I put it with this guitar to help protect it in shipping. Read my feedback, buy with
confidence!
